Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt released the following statement on today’s extra legislative session to address rising fuel costs.
“I’ve seen first-hand how families and farmers across North Carolina are hurting, and not just during election season. Back home in Wilson and all over the state, for many the strain of high costs has already become routine. Families have been making impossible choices between groceries, medical bills, and putting gas in their tank, and our farmers are facing another year of financial uncertainty during harvest season,” said Lt. Governor Hunt. “The temporary gas tax holiday passed today can help, but we need action from Washington because the war in Iran and these chaotic tariffs are what’s driving prices. Congress and the President need to wake up to what people are going through and do something about it.”
In addition, Lieutenant Governor Hunt has sent a letter to U.S. Senators Tillis and Budd to urge action by leaders in Washington.
