Today, Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt addressed Western North Carolina leaders at the Vision Northwest North Carolina Conference in Boone including local officials and business leaders. During her remarks, she highlighted the importance of investing in workforce development through community colleges and fighting the child care crisis as part of her Future-Ready Agenda.
Today, Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt visited Millbrook Magnet High School in Raleigh and toured their Sustainable Agriculture Academy to highlight the importance of supporting career and technical education (CTE) programs. The Lieutenant Governor was joined by Principal Dr. Brian Saunders and elected officials as she spoke with students and educators and visited the Welding and Carpentry Shop and Animal Science class.
Today, Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt announced Foothills Community School in Marion, North Carolina, is a recipient of the 2025 NLGA Lt. Governors STEM Scholarship Program. The school will be awarded $1,000 as part of the program to expand STEM programming and curriculum.

Today, Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt led the first meeting of the Governor’s Task Force on Child Care and Early Education. The task force is working to find solutions to the child care crisis by identifying strengths and gaps in the current system, strengthening public and private investment in child care infrastructure, and working to recruit and retain a strong child care workforce.Lieutenant Governor Hunt serves as Co-Chair of the task force along with Senator Jim Burgin.
Today, Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt visited Guilford Technical Community College in the second stop of her Future-Ready Community College Tour. During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor toured the Welding Technology Lab and Computer Integrated Machining Lab and met with students in the FAME (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) Program.
Today, Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt was appointed Co-Chair of Governor Stein’s new Task Force on Child Care and Early Education. The task force was announced during a visit to Kate’s Korner Learning Center in Durham, where the Governor and Lieutenant Governor toured the center, met with providers, and spent time with children in a classroom. The Lieutenant Governor will serve as a Co-Chair of the Task Force with Senator Jim Burgin.
Today, Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt launched her Future-Ready Community College Tour at Brunswick Community College and toured workforce development programs including the Integrated Machine Technology Lab, Welding Lab and Nursing Simulation Lab. Lieutenant Governor Hunt was joined by Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Kevin Lee, and BCC Vice President Greg Bland as she toured the school and spoke with students.
